About Me

My first word was ‘truck.’ That gives a pretty good view of my interests. While I spend most of my time doing other things, my mind often drifts towards automotive subjects. For example, I will be on the chairlift at the local ski area and will suddenly remember that I have that cold-weather crank case ventilation system sitting on the shelf in my garage. “When will I have time to do that job?” I wonder to myself. Later, when I get home, I’ll research the steps involved in this job, for the fifth time. But, while doing this, I’ll get distracted by a post on one of the few BMW forums about somebody’s E39 540i getting hydrolocked. Then, I’ll continue in my search, but this time get distracted by a post about the benefits of switching out the factory clutch delay valve with an aftermarket, more free-flowing one.

I’ve realized that all of this thinking I am doing about cars is relatively pointless, as I eventually forget what I’ve read on a specific subject. For this reason, I’ve been writing blog posts to make my thinking less “pointless” and more “pointy.” While it would be impossible to record every idea or thought or job I do on my car, as there wouldn’t be enough space on the internet for that, I will attempt to write about the most important ones. Thus, here is the birth of Exhaust Fumes.

Best, Lucas
